Australian actress Katherine Langford catapulted to fame in 2017, ever since her role as Hannah Baker in the first two seasons of the controversial Netflix television series, 13 Reasons Why; a role for which she even received a nomination for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress.
She has also had supporting roles in the popular films Love, Simon in 2018 and 2019’s Knives Out. The 24-year-old Australian actress is known for her glamorous and gorgeous looks and, of course, she greatly acclaimed acting skills.
Getting to Know Katherine Langford’s Early Life
Katherine Langford was born on 29 April 1996 in Perth and was raised in Applecross, a riverside suburb of Perth. She is the eldest daughter of her mother Elizabeth Langford, who is a pediatrician, and her father Stephen Langford, who is a flying doctor.
Katherine always had a love for singing and began voice lessons in 2005, receiving classical, jazz, and contemporary vocal training. In 2012, when Langford was 16, she was greatly inspired to learn how to play the piano after she attended a Lady Gaga concert. She then shared videos of herself singing three original songs she’d written, namely I’ve Got a Crush on Zoe Bosch, 3 Words, and Young and Stupid, which is an anti-suicide song she was inspired to write in 2013 after three Perth teens took their lives.
About Langford’s Education
For her senior years in high school, Katherine was offered a place at Perth Modern School, where she studied music and drama and was also the sports captain and a nationally ranked swimmer.
In her final year at Perth Modern, she stopped swimming and switched her focus to music and performance. The actress appeared in the school’s production of Hotel Sorrento in 2013 before graduating that same year.
After graduating high school, Langford was determined to become an actor but was rejected from every acting school she applied to after she was deemed too young, with not enough life experience. This led her to begin enrolling in acting classes and workshops in Perth while juggling three part-time jobs before she found herself an agent.
In 2014, Langford studied at the Principal Academy of Dance & Theatre Arts for one year, majoring in Music Theatre, and also appeared in a production of Godspell. In 2015, she was selected to participate in the National Institute of Dramatic Arts Advanced Actors Residency. The same year, she enrolled herself at Nicholson’s Academy of Screen Acting and landed the role of Juan Perón’s mistress in the musical Evita.
Langford was later offered a position in the Bachelor of Arts program in Acting at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. Although she intended to begin studies in 2016, she never enrolled and instead pursued professional acting roles.

Katherine Langford’s professional career began after she took up some roles in independent films like Imperfect Quadrant and a lead role in another called Daughter, which was aired at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. She later signed a contract with the William Morris Endeavor agency.
In 2017, she landed her breakout role of an American high school student, Hannah Baker, in the teen television series 13 Reasons Why; a role she auditioned for via Skype. And after the actress was selected for the role, she had only ten days to apply and get an O-1 visa to work in the United States.
Before she began acting in the series, the actress researched for her critical role as Hannah by speaking to a psychiatrist who specialized in adolescent cases, and also to a representative of It’s On Us, which is a sexual assault awareness campaign. Her hard work paid off and her performance was highly praised and also nominated for a Golden Globe Award.
In 2018, she made her film debut in an independent comedy-drama called The Misguided and also appeared in the romantic comedy-drama film Love, Simon.
Katherine was also cast as Morgan Stark, the daughter of Tony Stark and Pepper Potts in the Marvel’s film Avengers: Endgame the same year. However, her scenes were cut by the creators when it created confusion in the audience since there was no emotional connection with the character’s older version.
In 2019, she co-starred in the film Knives Out and also appeared as Dragracadabra in RuPaul’s Drag Race alongside RuPaul. She is also confirmed to appear in the series Spontaneous and Cursed.
Outside of Films: Katherine’s Other Ventures
The beautiful actress has worked with big brands like Valentino, Ralph Lauren, Elle, and more. She has also appeared in several magazine covers like Elle.
Inspired by the role of Hannah Baker, Katherine has been involved in several awareness campaigns talking about the mental health of teenagers and is also associated with Time’s Up.
Katherine’s Net Worth
As of 2020, the actress has accumulated a net worth of an estimated $6 Million.
The 24-year-old actress has seen massive success in just a few years of her career. So it’s only natural that she would splurge some of that hard-earned money on some glorious homes. Katherine first purchased a luxury apartment in Australia for $600k. Recently, the actress reportedly bought a townhouse in Kensington Palace Gardens in Central London to her name which cost a whopping total of $107 million.
Katherine has also been seen to drive a couple of expensive cars like the Mini Cooper which costs around $30,000, and a Cadillac Escalade whose base price starts from around $81,000.
Behind the Scenes: Katherine’s Relationships
Aside from her work as an actress, Katherine has also made headlines for her dating life. Over time, speculations and rumors about her dating status have been constantly flying and the actress has always kept denying them all. Katherine has been rumored to date her co-star Dylan Minnette, who played the role of Clay Jensen in 13 Reasons Why.
The on-screen couple has ignited dating rumors quite a few times, especially after they stated that they were the biggest fans of each other. Katherine had even said that Dylan was always there to put a smile on her face. And after the actress posted a video and a picture with Dylan, fans were convinced the rumors were true. But neither Katherine nor Dylan ever confirmed the nature of their relationship being anything more than just good friends.
All speculations of them being a couple off-screen died down after Dylan was seen with his longtime girlfriend Lydia Night, who are currently still together. On the other hand, Katherine has not been linked to any other actor since then and it seems likely that her relationship status at the moment is single. Perhaps the actress is choosing to spend her time and energy behind her career than on pursuing a relationship. If that’s the case, her decision is clearly paying off because the actress is definitely making a name for herself in Hollywood.
