The fame monster Lady Gaga Biography, life before fame, and lifestyles.
Lady Gaga, or Stefani, was born on March 28, 1986, in New York City to entrepreneur Joseph Germanotta and telecommunication assistant Cynthia Germanotta and has a younger sister Natali Germanotta. When she was only four years old, Gaga learned to play the piano by ear. This musical prodigy was accepted into the Juilliard School in Manhattan when she was 11 but instead attended a private Catholic school close to home. Still, she never let go of her passion for music and continued to hone her skills. And her efforts definitely paid off as she wrote an original ballad when she was only 13 and had her first performance at a nightclub at the age of 14.
Acknowledging her natural talent in music, NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts granted Lady Gaga an early admission, making her one of 20 students to have been awarded this honor. But the singer would drop out of the prestigious institute to begin her music professionally. During this time, she worked three jobs, including one as a gogo dancer which definitely played as an advantage for her performances today. Gaga managed to strike a deal with Def Jam records but only for a short few months in 2005. The singer was dropped and began working independently for the next few years.
Career & Achievements
Lady Gaga had her first big break in 2007 where she worked as a songwriter, writing songs for many well-known artists such as The Pussycat Dolls and Britney Spears, under the record label company Interscope. This was thanks to RnB singer Akon who discovered the singer and immediately signed her under his label.
By 2008, Gaga had released her debut album The Fame from which two singles, Poker Face and Just Dance, had topped the charts. The latter single had also received a Grammy nomination and while Poker Face claimed the no. 1 spot on the charts in nearly every category in January 2009.
For the next few years, Gaga consistently pushed out new music releasing eight songs in her album The Fame Monster in 2009, followed by Born This Way in 2011 and 2013’s Artpop the sound of which was different from that of her previous albums. Although the singer showed promising versatility in Artpop, the audience did not receive it as well as did her previous works, leaving the singer feeling disheartened. But when her collaborative album of jazz duets with Tony Bennett, Cheek to Cheek (2014), won a Grammy for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album, Gaga’s faith in her music and herself was restored. In October 2016, Gaga’s fifth album, Joanne, was her fourth album to reach No. 1 and top the charts in several around the world.
The year 2020 has proven to be a good year for the singer after all the music she put out was incredibly well-received by audiences worldwide. She first put out two singles, Stupid Love on February 28, and a collaborative single with Ariana Grande, Rain on Me, on May 22 which reached number one in the US charts. And finally, on May 29, Gaga released her album Chromatica, which subsequently became her sixth consecutive number one album in the country.
Lady Gaga began to venture out into the world of acting in 2015 and took on the role of The Countess in American Horror Story: Hotel for which she won a Golden Globe award. In 2016, Gaga was cast as the lead in A Star is Born alongside actor Bradley Cooper which of course became massively successful upon its October 2018 release, making an impressive $400 million globally and earning Gaga an Oscar nomination.
Lady Gaga’s Achievements & Awards
One of the most popular songs at the moment is Shallow, the lead single from the soundtrack for A Star is Born sung by Gaga and Cooper. For this single alone, Gaga won an Academy Award, a Satellite Award, and a Golden Globe for Best Original Song. It also secured the award for Best Song at the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards and in the Los Angeles Online Film Critics Society, the BAFTA Award for Best Film Music in 2019, and two Grammies as well. Nominations include two more from the Annual Grammy Awards.
Bagging an astronomical total of 321 wins and 710 nominations, some of Gaga’s other awards include 17 from Billboard, 2 Critics’ Choices, 11 Grammies in total and so many more. Lady Gaga also has 10 Guinness World records! In 2012, she was also 4th on the list of the top tycoons in 2011.
Lady Gaga’s Net Worth
The 34-year-old’s success is awe-inspiring, to say the least, and it is no wonder that the singer’s net worth is approximately $320 million as of 2020.
Let’s take a moment to look at all her fortunes.
Lady Gaga’s Lifestyle
The pop-star owns a Scottish castle valued at £8 million in Scotland. The mansion has 60 rooms and three kitchens that stretch over 200 acres. She also owns her parents’ house in New York City.
If her extraordinary mansion didn’t awe you, perhaps Gaga’s collection of six fancy cars might. The cars she owns include an Audi R8, Porsche Panamera, Rolls Royce Corniche III, Mercedes-Benz GL450, Chevrolet Suburban, and Lincoln Mkz.
It’s easy to look at her possessions and think Lady Gaga has it easy. But the singer actually comes from a lower-class family and had even gone bankrupt 4 times. And if that was bad enough, Gaga also struggled with alcoholism and drug addiction during the early stages of her career.
Lucky for Gaga, she had amazing friends who helped her through her difficult times and a lot of these friends are some of Hollywood’s finest celebrities. Some of her close friends from the pop-icon’s exclusive inner circle include John Legend, Chrissy Teigen, Bradley Cooper, designer Donatella Versace, and Beyoncé just to name a few.
Lady Gaga likes keeping her relationships hush-hush. But some of her most significant ones over the years start with
whom she dated in 2005 and again in 2010. The singer in an interview said she never loved anyone the way she loved him. She met and dated actor Taylor Kinney in 2011 who later proposed to Gaga in 2015 before finally announcing their breakup in 2016 via Instagram; a heartbreaking breakup no one saw coming.
But Gaga was able to move on eventually with talent agent Christian Carino in 2017.
The couple got engaged in secret but Gaga called off their engagement in early 2019. In 2020, the singer is dating her new beau Michael Polansky and are currently living together
